Allyson Felix

Allyson Michael Felix was an Los Angeles native born on the 18th November 1985. Her father Paul Felix was an ordained minister at the Master's Seminary in Sun Valley, and their mother Marlean Felix was a school teacher at Balboa Magnet Elementary School. Felix demonstrated a talent for athletics early on discovering her athletic abilities while she was at the Los Angeles Baptist High School. At her first attempt, she placed within the top two places in the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championships for the 200-meter sprint in only 10 weeks. Felix finished her high school year in 2003 and signed with Adidas a contract as a professional athlete. Following that, she attended University of Southern California studying elementary education. One year later Felix won the first Olympic medal in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens Greece setting the world junior record running 200 meters in 22.18 seconds. In 2005, at the Helsinki World Championships, Felix became the world's youngest champion in the 200m. She won the title in 2007. defended her title by beating Jamaican opponent Veronica Campbell. Felix was a frequent competitor in London, Beijing Rio de Janeiro, as well as Tokyo. She consistently placed within the top three places of all events.
